A One-Day workshop held by the title of “Information on TIR system”

On the initiation of Law and Foreign Relation Directorate, Ministry of Transport held a one-day workshop on information on TIR system for transportation cooperatives and company owners in Continental Hotel. By this workshop, MOT aimed to provide a comprehensive information about how to benefit from TIR System and to maintain a capacity building session for transportation company owners.
“By activation of TIR System, Afghanistan’s cargos will transported abroad without processing complicated custom procedures and long stops.” Mr. Imam Mohammad Varimoch, Administrative and Finance Deputy Minister of MOT stated. He also added: “The increasing use of TIR system between the member states will cause the growth and prosperity of Afghanistan’s industry and export.” 
Mr. Azizi, the Director of Law & Foreign Relation directorate of MOT, explained the privileges of TIR System. Then he talked about the experience gained from the first shipment of Afghanistan to Turkey through Lapis Lazuli Route. To gain the trust of TIR Convention’s member states, Mr. Azizi declared that MOT is going to benefit from the system correctly and to this end implementation of TIR agreement is a priority for Ministry of Transport.
Mr. Wais Sultani, the General Director of Land Transport Regulatory, talked over the preparations made by transportation companies according to TIR System and stated: “There has been many efforts to standardize the transportation companies such as providing a specific database for registration of cargo and passenger vehicles of the companies and currently most of the cargo transportation companies applied for the TIR System permit.”
Mr. Momand the Deputy of Afghanistan’s Chamber of Commerce & Industry, appreciated the organizations which provided the TIR System for Afghanistan and declared the preparations of private sector to strengthen the TIR System in the country.
Then transportation company authorities talked over the opportunities, challenges and benefits of TIR System. Then the ACCI authorities represented a presentation on TIR System to workshop participants. Finally, after inclusive discussions, Mr. Varimoch declared the conclusion of the workshop and decision of Ministry of Transport to conduct the information workshops on TIR system in all provinces of the country in coordination with related organization.
